Large Donations using a credit card

The Development Foundation would like to discourage credit card donations larger than $10,000. Please call (512) 245-2396. We would love to visit with you in person to thank you for your very generous donation.

Credit card companies charge as much as 4% on a credit card transaction. Your $10,000 might only net $9,600 into the fund to which you are donating. This amount represents a lost scholarship. If you donated $100,000 it could cost as much as $4,000.

Additionally, there are ongoing costs associated with a credit card processing account which would increase in order to process the larger transactions. These fees would have to be passed on to all endowment accounts in order to facilitate a "few" large transactions.
