07846 - Max Godwin Endowed Scholarship

Purpose: To honor Max Godwin for his 13 years as a faculty advisor to the Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club by recognizing an outstanding Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club member who has provided exceptional service and/or leadership to the club.

Financial Source: The scholarship was established from donations made by the Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club through its fund-raising efforts. Additional contributions may be made by the Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club, Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club Alumni and other contributors. All donations received by the fund are to be considered as principal and are to remain inviolate. Only earnings of the fund can be used to fund the scholarship.The selection committee will review periodically the number and amount of the scholarship awards, making whatever adjust­ments are necessary, based on earnings availability.

Criteria: Student must be enrolled full time (12 hours or more) in the undergraduate accounting program, in good standing with the University and the Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club and have at least one semester remaining before graduation. Student must have a 2.50 GPA overall and should have completed Principles of Financial Accounting and Principles of Managerial Accounting with at least a "B". This scholarship may not be awarded more than twice to any one student.

Selection Committee: A selection committee established in the School of Business and with a Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club Officer appointed by the Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club Faculty Advisors, sitting with VETO authority, will select the recipient. The Texas State University-San Marcos Accounting Club reserves the right for Mr. Max Godwin to screen the candidates, participate in the selection process and to participate in the review of the number and amount of the awards if he chooses.

Amount: $500.00 is available for 2008 Scholarships.
